Great authentic chips and also curry sauce. Amazing and friendly service. Also the prices are very reasonable.
So delicious!! Food was hot, fresh, and the customer service was outstanding. I got the haddock fish and chips. Will definitely be back!
All I can say is... WOW!!! I got the cod & chips today and man oh man, did it deliver on my high expectations. There is this fish & chips place me and my family love that's in Long Beach, California and nothing topped it but now, I can proudly say I have a new fish & chips spot here in Vegas. Me and my boyfriend have been trying several times to come here but the days that we wanted to try it was always on the days they were closed!! Anyway, today I had the great opportunity to finally try it and I was impressed. Great service and the employee who greeted me was very friendly. I honestly can't wait to come back and try the haddock. Might be back as soon as this weekend, that's how good it was!! It was perfectly crispy and scrumptious, the tartar sauce was CHEF'S KISS! And the fries you can tell it was made in house and fresh. The cod comes in one big piece, as big as my head and you wouldn't think you'd get full off of the one piece but it was more than enough for me and really filled me up! Sorry no picture because I was too busy devouring it lol! The Codfather is definitely a MUST TRY!!
Was told about this place by my niece. Her husband is gluten-free like I am. So back in the valley and had to try it! Gluten-free Fish n Chips Spam Fritters Spot on on both and Amazing!!! For sure, I must try if in the area!
Food: cod and chips, comes with a soda or bottled water. Ask for lemon. It's freshly made and they give you salt, tartar sauce, malt vinegar and ketchup so you can flavor to your liking. Service: friendly. Ambiance: small, no frills place, with cute U.K. decor. A few tables and chairs. It's good but taste wise - I think I still prefer the fish and chips at King's Fish House at The District.
I had been craving fish and chips but Inwas striking out trying to get it. I started with the Codfather based on the rave reviews. And I am always on the look out for a new place to try. So I came in to Codfather on a Friday evening. That was a mistake. This place was crowded. People waiting outside. People waiting inside. Nobody working the counter because they were all working in the back preparing orders. After waiting a few minutes I finally gave up. I wasn't in the mood to wait. The next place that I tried just up the street was not any better. So that too was a bust. I went home and pouted instead. Try number two was on the following Monday. But I didn't check ahead of time to make sure the Codfather was open. It turns out they are not open on Mondays. Its a good thing it was not put of my way. I drive by on my home from work anyhow so this was just a momentary detour. But one met with disappointment again. Now, as they say, third time is a charm. I stopped by again on my way home but this time on a Tuesday. 5:20ish on a Tuesday is the sweet spot. There was one person waiting and nobody else. I got right up to the counter and ordered cod and chips. Plus a side of mushy pea fritters. Then I took my seat and waited maybe 10 minutes for my food to come out. When it did come out, it was immediately cleat that the little bit of a wait was because this food is ridiculously fresh and HOT. I tried the chips (fries for us 'Mericans) first. So good. The perfect cut for my liking. Nicely browned. Creamy and starchy. Pretty much the perfect chip. Especially with a generous soaking of malt vinegar. Next I tried the mushy pea fritters. I was less impressed with these. I had never tried mushy peas before but wanted to not knowing what to expect. I didn't get much by the way of flavor here. Just the peas and a fried taste. That was the first bite or two. By the end of the first fritter it had grown on me a little. I brought the other two home. I'll eat those but then I think I'll skip them in the future. I'll stick with just the classic pairing of fish and chips. And speaking of the fish, I was expecting maybe two smallish pieces. I was surprised ti receive only one. That said, it was a huge piece of fish. Big enough that I had to eat it with a fork and knife. I tried it plain. I tried it with tartar sauce. I tried it with vinegar. My favorite way is with both vinegar and tartar sauce. I ate every last flaky bit of this crispy battered cod. And it was delicious. Not to mention filling. I was stuffed from what I ate and I still had two pea fritters to take home. I don't eat fish often. I'm more of a land animal fan. But every once in a while I get that craving for a good old world classic like fish and chips. There are a few places to get it around here but I can't think of a place this good or authentic. Definitely a place I will remember in the future when I need that fried food frenzy again.
If you like fish&chips, visit "The Codfather". The Codfather occupies a single unit in a generic strip mall. They effectively use signage and window decor so that you can easily identify and locate the store. The format is fast casual: You enter and place your order at the counter. If you are eating in, someone on staff will bring your food to your table. The dining area is small and utilitarian, but clean and reasonably comfortable. The kitchen is open. On this visit, I ordered the mini fish&chips ($10.50). This smaller meal allowed me to also order a battered sausage ($4.95). With tax ($1.29), my ticket was $19.06 before gratuity. The primary reason I recommend The Codfather is that they understand protein / carb ratios. Sometimes when you order fried fish, the serving looks sizable, but you find that the batter is puffed up and hides an undersized piece of fish inside. Not here. The Codfather has a nice serving of fish that is very lightly battered; and the protein / carb ratio does affect how the dish taste and feels in your mouth. (By the way, you get to choose cod or haddock.) The chips (fries) are in keeping with the predominate style of preparation that I experienced in the UK. The battered sausage is a pork sausage that has been very lightly battered and deep fried. I do not know of any other place offering this item. The bottom line is that the named chains that specialize in fish&chips don't compare. And the fish&chips here are also better than what you get in most sit-down restaurants.
Not sure if we came on an odd day, but we waited over an hour for our fish and chips! About an hour in line and thirtyish to get our food to go. One guy (the owner?) helped cook/ prep the food and took orders. Three other workers were there that day too. Fish was good! The cod butty is a sandwhich and def more worthy in my opinion! You still get a lot of fish that's good for one person. The meal cod and fish came with a lot of fish, that was def too much for me to finish for one meal. Chips were meh. Also tried mushy peas for fun and I would not recommend. Literally just mushy peas The service was good and food was good but for the wait prob wouldn't try again!
So good! Legit fish and chips. The mashed pea fritters were amazing. I've never eaten them before. The batter is great. Complete meal including soda! Would love a great beer with this but I can handle it. Tartar is really great. A little sweet but super tasty and the servings are huge! Chips were homemade amazing.
